If you have a bike you want to get rid of there are many ways to try to sell it. You can put an ad in the local newspaper. Phrase it similar to this: 26 Inch men’s bike for sale, 10 speed, excellent condition, jet black with red trim. Brand new tires asking $200 call 555-1111 after 6 PM or leave message.

If you live in an apartment building or condo, there may be a central bulletin board. If so, use a 3 x 5 index card with the same information and post it on the board. Some newspapers have an online edition where you can put a classified add in for free.

Make sure to take several photos of the bike from different angles. Potential buyers are more apt to buy something if they are able to see a photo.

Another free way to advertise that you have a bike for sale is on the internet. Do a quick search and you will find several websites where you can list the bike.

Check out all your free options first. Also let your friends, family and co-workers know that you have a bike for sale. Ask them to spread the word for you. The more folks that know the bike is for sale, the better your chances of selling it fast.
